Kinsta Names Jon Penland New CEO and Matt Reid as CMO

Kinsta, a leading managed hosting provider for WordPress, has named Jon Penland as chief executive officer to double down on the company’s exceptional product and award-winning customer-centric growth strategy. Kinsta has also named Matt Reid, former senior vice president at BigCommerce, as its new chief marketing officer.

Kinsta has a longstanding record of providing feature-rich, comprehensive hosting services coupled with extraordinary customer experience for more than a decade. Penland and Reid will lead the company’s mission to support website owners and developers.

Penland started at Kinsta as a support engineer about nine years ago and rose through the ranks through a number of roles in sales, operations and customer success, up to chief operating officer before being named CEO. He strongly believes in Kinsta’s culture of combining quality, service and value to the industry.

The CEO transition is not expected to bring major shifts, as Penland has already been involved in the company’s leadership. Over the past six years on the board of directors, he has been deeply involved in guiding Kinsta’s most important decisions.

“I joined Kinsta nine years ago because I was impressed by its reputation for industry-leading performance and high quality support,” Penland said. “We have since built on those qualities and gotten stronger over time. Reid was hired to bring his strong background effectively marketing to small, enterprise and agency customers, and to accelerate Kinsta’s growth and go-to-market strategy. He has a unique mix of experience reaching top agencies and companies of all sizes.
