The Network Advertising Initiative (NAI), the leading non-profit self-regulatory body focused on technology providers in the online advertising ecosystem, today announced it is using SafeGuard Privacy to make its compliance program for member companies an online and auditable process. The NAI has more than 100 members, ranging from large multinational corporations to smaller startups, representing a significant portion of the digital advertising technology ecosystem, all committed to strong self-regulation and enhancing consumer trust.

Compliance with the NAI Code of Conduct and guidance has long been considered the privacy high-water mark for the advertising technology industry; it is purposely rigorous and compels members to adhere to stringent privacy practices. These range from completion of an annual review of the members’ compliance with the NAI Code of Conduct by NAI compliance staff, to notice and consent requirements related to data collection and use for advertising purposes. This new partnership will bring value to NAI members by adding a technology resource that will make the compliance process faster, more efficient, and more complete, while also enabling industry-wide benchmarking.

“The NAI and its members will benefit from a fully online approach, allowing us to react dynamically and swiftly to a rapidly changing privacy compliance landscape,” said Leigh Freund, President and CEO of the NAI. “After a thorough review, we determined that a partnership with SafeGuard Privacy will create the best opportunity for our members to showcase their compliance with NAI standards, will enable companies to streamline their compliance and due diligence process, and will be the best organizational fit.”

“Once again, the NAI is leading the industry by providing its members with access to the best solutions in-market to help members ensure responsible data collection and use practices,” said Richy Glassberg, co-founder and CEO, SafeGuard Privacy.

SafeGuard Privacy is a SaaS-based compliance platform that leading brands, agencies, publishers, data providers, and tech platforms use to assess, audit, and comply with global privacy laws. Trade associations like the NAI are committed to helping the digital advertising ecosystem comply with the increasingly complex regulatory environment; the NAI’s partnership with SafeGuard Privacy will give its member companies an avenue to an interoperable platform through which they can assess privacy legal compliance as well as industry best practices. Additionally, NAI members will be able to assess compliance whether they are current SafeGuard Privacy customers or not.

NAI members who leverage SafeGuard Privacy’s fully auditable SaaS platform for privacy regulatory compliance will be able to enjoy the following benefits:

  • Easy assessment of their organization’s compliance with the NAI standards, and understanding of what, if anything, they need to remediate
  • Access to a clear and easy-to-understand company compliance history
  • Confidence that they are accessing a single source platform that is always up-to-date with NAI standards

The SafeGuard Privacy-powered NAI compliance program will also be interoperable with SafeGuard Privacy’s state-by-state and global privacy assessments and other solutions, providing NAI members with additional benefits to help them fulfill their state and federal compliance responsibilities.
