Global business intelligence and risk prevention provider, ClearSale (www.clear.sale), has announced the appointment of Executive Vice President Rafael Lourenco to the inaugural LATAM Regional Advisory Board of the Merchant Risk Council (merchantriskcouncil.org). In this appointment, Mr. Lourenco joins ecommerce fraud and risk leaders from such organizations as Adidas, Lenovo, Netflix, and FarFetch, among others.
Bringing together global merchants, solutions providers, and law enforcement agencies, the Merchant Risk Council (MRC) strives to share current and emerging ecommerce fraud prevention strategies with a global audience of professionals. The MRC’s Global Board of Directors oversees legal and ethical standards, while the Regional Advisory Boards bring local industry knowledge and perspectives, leadership, and experience to the organization. MRC previously created regional boards in North America and Europe, adding the APAC region in 2021. The LATAM regional board’s addition this July comes as 27 new board members were seated across the global and regional boards.
According to Statista, Latin America is home to more than 300 million digital buyers, with online sales from the region in 2022 estimated at nearly $168 billion U.S. dollars. Helming a Brazilian-based fraud and risk prevention organization with a worldwide fraud prevention team and customer base, Rafael adds an understanding of the Latin American market in the context of the global ecommerce space.
